Why doesn't insurance cover hearing aids?

Although there's definately a "quality of life" issue with hearing aids, the vast majority of people who need them, are the elderly, and it's NOT medically necessary.

Just like glasses. They are assistive devices, NOT necessary to maintain life - like a dialysis machine or pacemaker.
